Memphis is up and walking with the help of a walker!!! He will be released from the hospital on Friday and his therapy will probably resume somewhere in Virginia closer to home. He is anxious to get back to performing and to the studio to finish his CD. A sincere thank you goes out to the DC Blues Society, the bands and fans for their successful fundraiser at Chick Halls Surf Club last Saturday.

Although, he hasn’t regained complete feeling in his feet, he is able to get in and out of the bed freely.
Great News! I received a laptop from an anonymous donor over the weekend and delivered it on Tuesday. He was excited and he would like to thank that person from the bottom of his heart. One note: When writing a donation please make the check to Chester Chandler or go to http://www.memphisgoldprod.net/homepage.htm and select the donate button. Thank you and keep the prayers coming! Hope to see you on the 9th of February 2008 at Chick Hall’s Surf Club.

Memphis is on the road to recovery, he finally has a little bit of feeling in his feet. His spirits are high and we (Memphis, his wife Barbara, Nadine Rae, Clarence “The Bluesman” Turner, Memphis’ sister and myself) actually wrote a song the other day in Shock Trauma lol . I guess we made too much noise (just kidding)….because now they moved him to Kernan Hospital to begin rehabilitation. He still has a long way to go, but the doctors are calling him a miracle. I truly believe our prayers along with his strong will and determination go a long way! Well, since he is getting better he has all this idle time (which he is not used to) on his hands. If anyone can donate a laptop while he is in the hospital, it would be greatly appreciated. He will be there for a while and their desktop of course is at home. When he is not in therapy for these next 8 weeks he needs to keep his mind busy. Someone can give it to me, and I can take it to him. How convenient that they move him 5 minutes from my office.
On another note. Barbara and Memphis are thankful for the DC Blues Society hosting the Memphis Gold Fundraiser on February 9 at Chick Halls. However as a musician myself, my wheels started turning and I thought of something in addition to that fundraiser. I would like for us as a community of musicians to do more after that event. My plan is to have a semi concert series featuring maybe 2-3 acts per month at different venues all the way into the summer months. I’m calling this the Memphis Gold Benefit Concert Series. I know it sounds a bit ambitious, but I believe this music community can start something that we should and could do for all musicians in need for this area. I proposed this to Barbara and Memphis and they gave me their blessing. So I am asking if the venues and musicians would like to donate their space and time, I believe we could really help out Memphis and future musicians in need this way.
I can be contacted at Memphisgoldbenefit@yahoo.com for reference to this subject. He knows so many people and has performed everywhere, so I can not possibly reach out to everyone. However, email me and let’s get this show (s) on the road. Thank you and may God bless you for your thoughtfulness.

With all of your well wishes and prayers, Memphis is onto a great start to a long recovery. He is now able to move his feet but has yet to regain feeling. His spirits are up and he is ready to get out of the hospital. He will be transferred to a hospital in Virginia soon. The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support.
